When it comes to gaming, at least in the PC gaming world, it's always nice to have the latest and greatest hardware. To a degree this holds true to Android as well considering there is a lot of similarities between the two. Android gamers who like to upgrade won't have to wait long for that quad-core devices you've been wanting.
Well, that is if Asus has their way. We already know that the first quad-core Tegra 3 Android tablet, the Asus Transformer Prime, is set to release this November 9th. Now news is going around today that their unfortunately named Padfone will be released in February 2012 and will more than likely come with Tegra 3 stuffed inside of it as well and a layer of Ice Cream on top, if you get my meaning.
The Padfone, for those of you that aren't aware of what this device is, is an Android phone which can also be slotted into the back of a tablet extension and, naturally, be used as a tablet instead. Similar to that of the Atrix and the laptop dock but instead as a tablet. If you follow the time frames that have been laid out about when quad-core devices would arrive, this fits right in line with previous statements that quad-core Android phones landing on shelves in early 2012.
So for those of you with the same need for having the latest and greatest hardware for gaming, just in mobile form, you won't have to wait too much longer to nab a quad-core Tegra 3 phone if you prefer having a phone instead of a tablet although this is both. Just as long as you don't mind showing off your device while telling your friends it's a Padfone.
