We've had Batman, Angry Birds and even Hello Kitty as cross-over events with GungHo Entertainment's popular Puzzle & Dragons game. The newest one is a cross-over with Evangelion the anime, since there's no official Evangelion game for Android, at least not yet.
Angry Birds Rio hasn't seen an update in awhile but that apparently doesn't mean the game is dead, especially since there is a sequel to the movie coming out. Rovio has pushed a new update to the game that brings a bunch of new levels as well as something Rovio hasn't really done before with an older title of their - refreshed the graphics.
DotEmu has apparently been quietly working on another set of three classic games for Android gamers to enjoy as today the company has released the Gobliiins Trilogy onto Google Play. This trilogy consists of Gobliiins, Gobliiins 2, and Gobliiin 3, all of which were released onto PC between 1991 and 1993.
Mikey Shorts is a cool little retro-style platformer that was originally released onto iOS by BeaverTap Games and has done quite well for itself since its release. Now Noodlecake Games is planning to bring this game over to Android and it will be arriving next week.
There really hasn't been a solid online 3D brawler released for Android as of yet but today that has all changed with the release of Fright Fight. Developed by APPSolute Games, this game was inspired by other titles such as Super Smash Bros so you can expect similar gameplay to be in this one.
Herocraft has dipped their toes into the old school arcade shooter arena with the release of their new game a couple of days ago called Mig 2D: Retro Shooter. Just like the name of this game suggests, players will be thrust into the world of a top-down scrolling arcade shooter which you probably played similar games back in the day in arcades.
Gameblyr has released their highly acclaimed strategy board game Pathogen onto Android today. As some of you might be guessing by the name of this game, your goal in Pathogen is to basically take over the board with your color. While this may seem simple at first, it actually gets quite challenging once you get into it.
Back in September of last year we reported on a new turn-based strategy war game called Sword of the Stars: Ground Pounders which had just arrived onto Google Play. The developers of this game have been working hard to bring it to PC and now it is available on Steam through there Early Access program. So why are we reporting on it? Because Kerberos Productions has announced that cross-platform gameplay with Android users, among other features, is on the way.
Cinemaware is a company not too different than DotEmu in a lot of ways. They both like to bring classic games to mobile platforms but DotEmu has a lot more game releases currently than Cinemaware does. Cinemaware also happens to be porting their own games (for the most part) over to Android while DotEmu specializes in other companies titles.
King has been in the news a lot lately and not for the best of reasons but today is a bit different as the company prepares to file for their IPO which is looking to be valued at possibly over $500 million, at least according to the Wall Street Journal. The official press release however doesn't mention any actual value the company is looking for.
Way back in 2012 we reported on a game not related to pinball that Zen Studios was working called CastleStorm. Android users have been waiting awhile to get their hands on this non-pinball game from the pinball experts. Well Zen Studios has told us that the game is near an official release but for right now those of you interested in this game can try to jump into the beta program for CastleStorm on Android.
