Recent iOS hit game, Temple Run, coming to Android soon

A game that has become a bit of a surprise hit on the iOS platform, logging in 20 million downloads with 7 million active users daily since August 2011, is gearing up to make it's way to Android in the very near future. So what game is this? It's called Temple Run and was developed by Imangi Studios.

Temple Run is an endless runner type of game but features a more Indiana Jone type of theme to it with Mayan looking levels with ruins, tribal figures and all that good stuff you would find in an Indiana Jones type of movie. Ironically, or maybe not, the game actually took off to become the hit it is when the developer switched their business model from having Temple Run as a paid application to a free one with in-game purchases.

You will be able to buy in-game currency which you can then use to purchase various customization options such as new playable characters and power-ups to help increase your score. The good news is though that even if it is a freemium game, it sounds like the developer did it the right way where you don't have to buy into the game unless you want the extra playable characters and power-ups. You can play the game as it is without purchasing anything.

As an endless runner, you will have to try and survive as long as you can. The longer you are running, the more points you collect. Of course there is plenty of stuff in the way that you will have to avoid while trying to collect the gems in your path. This particular endless runner is multi-directional though as you will be in an over-the-shoulder third person perspective with the map having turns in it. No exact date has been given as to when Temple Run will land on Android.
