9 new Android games you have to play this week

Titanfall: Assault Android

It’s that time of the week again, when you’re gearing up for the weekend and looking for new Android games to play. As ever, Droid Gamers is here to help you with that.

We’ve scoured Google Play for the nine best Android games that launched this week, and popped them all into a handy list for you. We’ve also added download links because we’re nice like that.

The best game on Android this week: Titanfall: Assault

Titanfall: Assault has been a long time coming, but this week it arrived globally on Google Play. It’s effectively Clash Royale with a Titanfall twist. You’ve got pilots and titans instead of wizards and giants, and burn cards instead of spells.

Aside from that, it’s very similar. You’ll build a deck of upgradeable cards and head into multiplayer battles. Instead of just destroying towers, the emphasis here is on capturing and holding three points on the map. It’s like a strategy version of Domination from Call of Duty.

It’s gorgeous, set in the Titanfall universe, and worth a look for fans of Clash Royale and MOBAs alike. Go and grab Titanfall: Assault on Google Play right now.

Motorsport Manager 2

The sequel to the finest racing simulator on mobile, Motorsport Manager 2, launched this week on Android. Previously, it had only appeared on iOS.

But we’re glad it finally made the move over, even if it was a bit late. It’s a stellar sequel that improves on nearly every aspect of the original. There’s more depth, sharper visuals, and even more sponsorship options.

If you like racing, go ahead and grab this from Google Play right now.

Ristar

Ristar is the latest Sega Forever title. It’s a platformer that the Sonic Team released on the Genesis / Mega Drive back in 1995.

You play as a star who can grab stuff with his stretchy arms like enemies, vines, and platforms. There’s more grabbing than jumping here.

Go ahead and grab Ristar on Google Play right now.

Combat Squad

Combat Squad is a tactical FPS that takes inspiration from Counter-Strike. You’ll build a squad of soldiers, issue them orders, then send them into battle to enact them.

You can then take charge of an individual soldier during the shoot out, and help your team directly. Go and grab it from Google Play.

Carmageddon: Crashers

Carmageddon: Crashers turns drag racing into jousting. You and your opponent drive at each other as fast as you can, and the winner is the one less wrecked at the end.

Win races and you’ll get some money, which you can spend on new cars and upgrades. You can even sign sponsors to earn more money and progress faster.

Go and grab it right now on Google Play.

Retro Soccer

Retro Soccer is a love letter to all things football. It plays like Sensible Soccer but with nifty touch controls.

You’ll build a team of legends both current and retired then head out into tournaments, leagues, and cups. There are also challenges that are themed on historic matches.

Go and grab it on Google Play right now.

Shrek Sugar Fever

You can probably guess what this is from the title alone. Did you think sweet-themed match three puzzler featuring characters from the Shrek movies?

Well, yes, it’s exactly that. Match sweets, unlock characters, battle bosses – it’s all here. If you like that sort of thing, go and grab it from Google Play.

Cavefall

Cavefall is, for want of a better term, an endless faller. You play as an adventurer who’s working his way down a cave in search of lost secrets.

You tap to jump to each side of the cave, and grab items along the way to unlock upgrades. If you like retro high score chasers, go grab Cavefall from Google Play.

Swim Out

Swim Out is a turn based puzzler in which you have to direct a bunch of swimmers around a pool, ensuring they don’t swim into each other.

That might sound easy, but then you find out that each swimmer uses a different style. That changes up how they move, so you have to think ahead to make sure it all goes to plan.

If you like relaxed, thoughtful puzzlers, grab Swim Out on Google Play right now.
